Fight or flight or butter chicken

Soooo this past week Sing and I had our first disagreement/argument/clash/fight. And it SUCKED. I knew we would have our fair share of disagreements and that we wouldn’t see eye to eye on everything, I was actually kind of just almost waiting for this to happen to get our first fight over and done with, but it still sucked nonetheless.

I’m a little stubborn when it comes to the way I do things especially when I set out an entire structure and expect it to be followed so when Sing waltzed right in and started changing things around I got a little uneasy and was not happy. I didn’t understand what he was doing so I was a little (read: a lot) annoyed and the vicious cycle of him getting annoyed at me getting annoyed at him began. What made it worse was that we were in a library when this happened so we were kind of whisper shouting trying to explain over the top of each other lol…

But all is well because StemEd is more important than our egos and really, we both just want the perfect product. We sat on it for a few hours, talked it out and got some butter chicken because butter chicken is always the answer and can fix everything.

Auspresence/Teleperu?

Last week was hectic, the internship took up most of our time during the day and part-time work took up the remaining part. Trying to finish this module was more time consuming than I first thought (deadline by end of this week!!!). We are currently planning the layout and producing content designed for ease of use and aligned with current curriculum. Hopefully when this module is finished, we should have a good guideline to how to structure and make content for the other ones. It’s all coming together!

We also recently started our social media pages to reserve the names. Hardest task by far in this whole project was starting our social media pages. Everything was taken! We tried StemEd, StemEducation, StemEdu, even StemEduc… (some inactive stem news thing on twitter). We also thought about changing our name, one of the suggestions was StemX, which we both thought was reallllly cool and got attached to that quite quickly, but sadly, it was taken. In the end, we found handles that weren’t taken and we still stuck to our original name, while expressing who we are. So follow us on the social medias!

Next time though, I’ll probably just use a random name generator to come up with names, much less effort required. Next start-up is going to be called:

Hands down the best talk was by Mike Monteiro the co-funded of Mule design studio. His talk was about how this is the golden age of design and how we’re all screwed. He talked about how designers are now leading companies but don’t have the experience to and how there isn’t anyone to mentor them. Quote of the talk was

It’s not disruption when it’s white boys getting rich again and again. Help build a better world, find real problems to solve.

Other highlights included meeting Emelia from MasterChef
